The library is pleased to welcome Mark Moran, former senior editor of Antiques and Collectibles Books for Krause Publications in Iola, Wisconsin. He's authored or co-authored more than 25 books on antiques and collectibles, bought and sold antiques for more than 30 years and has been an active appraiser of antiques and fine art for more than 20 years.

Mark will be at the library appraising YOUR antiques! Please sign up for a time slot with library staff by calling or stopping by; a fee of $10 per antique will hold your spot for appraisal. Should you have a large items, pictures can be sent ahead of time, or a larger number of antiques you'd like appraised at your home, a home visit can be coordinated through the library; Mark will charge $75 for a home visit.

Acceptable items include: fine art, furniture, ceramics, glassware, vintage photographs, advertising, folk art, assorted toys, metalware, clocks, costume jewelry, musical instruments, lighting, books, and sports memorabilia. Please no weapons, traps, Nazi memorabilia, coins/paper money, fine jewelry/precious gems, or Beanie Babies. If you're uncertain about your antique and if it "fits" within these parameters, please contact library staff and we'll get in touch with Mark to confirm.

Patrons of all ages are welcome to attend this program even without having any antique appraisals completed! This will be like the Antiques Roadshow programs on TV, and will be enjoyable to see these wonderful antiques, hear some history, and get an opinion on value. Feel free to come and go as needed; light refreshments will be served as well. Opinions on value are informal and may not be used for insurance or charitable purposes, as these require a certified appraisal.

This resource is supported by the Institute of Museum and Library Services under the provisions of the Library Services and Technology Act as administered by State Library of Iowa.
