The Columbus Junction City Council recently adopted code to create a historic preservation commission (HPC) to help direct efforts to preserve and recognize historical building and sites in the city as well as to document and share our cultural heritage. The six member commission will be appointed in January 2019 and volunteers are needed; volunteers are also needed for projects.
Ex-officio members of the HPC include one city council member (current Frank Best), Community Development Director Mallory Smith, and Columbus Junction Public Library Director Mandy Grimm.
If you are interested in serving on the commission, which will meet 4 times per year, please submit your name to any of the ex-officio members of the commission for appointment by the city council.
The first meeting of the HPC will be Feburary 27, 2019, at 6:30 pm in the Council Chambers.
