Reading Dragons
We're trying something completely new this summer - READING DRAGONS!
Visit the library to register for summer reading and get your first set of Reading Dragons (think Pokemon cards) and instructions on how to play (think Rock, Paper, Scissors). Earn a new set of dragons for every 100 minutes read (up to 800 minutes for all 8 dragon sets). There is a paper reading tracker to help you keep track of minutes read and which dragon families you've already gotten. Additionally, during special events, we will have certain special dragon cards that participants will receive at those special events!
At the end of July, the Reading Dragons will go into retirement and not be available again! Each summer, new families of dragons will debut and be available to earn during summer reading, along with other special dragons. But once the dragons are in retirement, they're no longer available to earn!
IF you wish to be entered into the drawings for prizes, you will need to track your minutes on Beanstack. This is an online tracking platform for all ages, and no paper tracking or tickets will be issued this year. When you achieve a badge that's eligible for a ticket, you'll be asked to choose which prize drawing that virtual ticket will go into. Each 100 minutes of reading will issue you a virtual ticket, and you can choose a different prize for each ticket. The prize choices will be available based on age group (children, teen, and adult), so what you see when logging your children's reading might be different than what you have to choose from.

How to Play (Standard Game):
To play, you and a friend each choose one card secretly, keeping it hidden so your friend can't see what you choose. Then count to 3 and both of you flip over your cars to see who wins!
Fire beats Leaf
Leaf beats Water
Water beats Fire
If both cards are the same color - it's a tie!
How to Play WAR:
Make sure to write your name on your cards so you can get them back after the game.
Shuffle all player's cards, and deal evenly to all players. Place your stack of cards face down on the table (don't look at them).
Both players will flip the top card of their deck over at the same time.
*Red beats Green
*Green beats Blue
*Blue beats Red
If you have the same color, the oldest creature wins.
If creatures and colors are the same, you go to WAR:
*Place two cards face down on the pile, then flip the 3rd card, using the same rules as before to declare a winner. If they still match, keep going to war (discarding 2 cards face down to the pile, flipping the 3rd to determine the winner).
Play until one player runs out of cards, or the player with the most cards wins!

How to play MYTHIC BATTLE:
This game is for two players, and requires a die. Make sure to put your name on your cards so you can get them back at the end of the game.
Each player shuffles their deck. Each player puts three cards face down in front of them, individually.
Then, three cards are placed face up in the middle of the two rows of face down cards.
Players then face off - flipping the card opposite of the face up card and battle! The strongest card wins: Adult - Child - Baby - Egg
If cards are the same age, winner is based on creature type: Starter/Special Cards - Dragon - Griffin - Unicorn
If cards are both same age and creature, color wins, based on the WAR rules: red beats green - green beats blue - blue beats red.
IF cards tie (same age, creature, and color), both players roll die - higher roll wins. Keep rolling until one person wins the battle!
A FEW MORE RULES:
*Always place your name on your cards so you can get them back after you're done playing.
*IF you choose to trade cards, trade the entire family of cards rather than singular cards.
*Special cards at special events are NOT available outside of the event times.
*The library will not be able to replace cards once given (if lost or traded).
*Once the Reading Dragons are retired, they won't be available again - get them while you can!
