Book Lockers

Have you noticed the big locker outside the library? Ever wondered what it's for?

It's our latest addition - a book locker system! Now you can pick up items even after the library has closed!

How will we know what to put in the locker for you?

You can do several things! You can log in directly to the catalog and reserve items through our catalog (either on the ILS app or by clicking the orange "Catalog" button in the upper righthand corner of this page).

You can complete this form and give us titles, or even just vibes/request some recommendations!

You can email the library directly at columbusjunctionlibrary@gmail.com with your requests.

You can call during our open hours 319-728-7972 to chat with staff!

How does the locker work?

The first time you use the locker, we'll ask for some information, specifically a phone number that can receive texts and an email address. You'll choose how you want to get notifications (text, email, or both). You'll receive notification your items are in the locker, and when you arrive, you'll choose the green "Patron" button on the screen. Then you'll enter the 5 digit code you received and the locker will pop open to allow you to get your items! Close the locker door and enjoy! Each transaction will give you a different code, so no need to worry about keeping that safe for the next time!

Are there some things that won't go in lockers?

Yes!

Technology - unfortunately the lockers aren't climate controlled

Copies - due to requiring payment

Some STEM kits - due to not fitting (like the telescope)

When will locker requests be fulfilled?

Locker requests will be fulfilled during all open hours. To ensure same day service, please have requests in by 3 pm. Anything received after 3 pm/end of business will be processed the next business day.
